R&L Foundation was created in honor of the values and commitment that my family members Rey and Lenie had to their community. Married at a young age, they found themselves living on the island of Kaui before moving to San Diego, Ca. Upon arriving to the mainland, they served as live in care providers to veterans with disabilities. Their passion to assist the community grew as they transitioned into foster care for abused children and children with disabilities. Receiving many awards and being recognized as one of the more impactful foster families in southern California, the children in their care eventually aged out creating lives of their own. Reynaldo and Lenie remained active in the church Serving as eucharists and members of the choir. They eventually opened
independent living homes for individuals challenged with mental health issues and individuals seeking structured living arrangements. They provided care to others for the rest of their days. Lenie passed away in 2020 of cancer. Rey passed away 71 days later. His doctor said medically speaking of natural causes. His only son as a person of faith believes it was from a broken heart.
